Over the last 30 days, Griffin has added 20 new sales professionals across its divisions, expanding the company's ability to support professional growers, retailers, controlled-environment agriculture operations, and specialty markets. The new team members strengthen Griffin's presence across the Great Lakes, Midwest, Mountain States, and West Coast regions while providing customers with greater access to experienced local expertise and industry support.

"This growth is about putting more people in the field who can listen to our customers, understand their businesses, and help them find the right products and solutions," said Andrew Barry, a Managing Director at Griffin Greenhouse Supplies. "We're fortunate to have attracted professionals who are already well respected in the markets they serve.

They bring valuable relationships and experience that will allow us to strengthen our connections with customers and vendors while continuing to build sustainable growth." "With this growth comes the responsibility to continue investing in our people and the resources they need to serve customers well," Barry continued. "We're focused on building a strong foundation while preserving the culture and relationships that have been fundamental to Griffin for nearly 80 years." Why this matters: For operators, this is a water-management story. The useful signal is that direct substrate measurements can help cut drain loss materially without giving up yield or fruit quality, which is exactly the kind of controllable efficiency gain a facility can build on.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does substrate sensing matter in free-drain strawberry systems?

Because drain percentage tells a grower what already happened, while substrate moisture and EC data show root-zone conditions directly. That makes it easier to cut water loss without guessing.

What is the operator takeaway from this trial?

If the thresholds are understood well enough, growers can reduce drain water materially while protecting yield and fruit quality, which makes sensing an operational tool instead of a reporting tool.
